Tinos has no airport, so the last part of the journey is always by sea. Ferries arrive in Tinos town (Chora), and from the port it is a short drive inland to Krokos.
By ferry from Athens
Two mainland ports have regular ferries to Tinos:
- Rafina, on the east coast of Attica, close to Athens International Airport. It is usually the quicker crossing.
- Piraeus, the main port of Athens, reachable by metro from the city centre and the airport.
Crossings take roughly 2 to 5 hours depending on the port and the vessel: high-speed ferries are much faster than conventional ones. Check the current timetable when you book.
Via Mykonos
You can also fly to Mykonos and take a ferry across to Tinos. The two islands are neighbours, so it is one of the shortest crossings in the Cyclades.
Booking tickets
Book with the ferry company or a ferry booking site. In summer, book early, especially for weekends and around the big religious feast of Tinos on 15 August, when the island fills with pilgrims and ferries sell out.
Arriving in Tinos town
Tinos town has two ports a short walk apart, the old port and the new port. Your ticket shows which one your ferry uses.
From the port to AĒSIS
📍 Location: AĒSIS, Krokos, Tinos (open in Google Maps)
To get from the port to the house, we recommend arranging your own transport, such as a car or scooter. The accommodation is about 7 km from the port (15’), and local buses do not run very frequently, so having a vehicle will make arrival much easier. It will also let you explore Tinos comfortably and see more of the island at your own pace. You can rent a car or scooter from local rental businesses on the island. AĒSIS is located in Krokos, in the heart of Tinos, and offers free on-site parking.
Getting around the island
A car or scooter is the easiest way to explore the villages and beaches of Tinos. Rental agencies are at the port and in town; book ahead in July and August. There is a local bus service with limited routes, and a small number of taxis, so it is worth booking a taxi in advance.
